Landis wins 6th MVP-title
Thomas Landis won his fifth MVP-title in a row.
At the General Assembly 2000 Thomas Landis was named MVP of the Challengers for the fifth consecutive time, and sixth overall. He set career highs with 14 homers, 63 hits, a .954 slugging average and also stole 17 bases. On the hill, he went 7-5 with a 4.53 ERA, striking out a team-high 73 batters. Other award winners were Benny Räber as the Best Pitcher, posting a career-best 10-1 record in 15 games started with a 4.75 ERA. Patrick Zöllig won the award as the Rookie of The Year, getting a win in three starts on the mound, and filling in as the starting shortstop in the playoffs. Best Batter of the Year was Anubis Benitez who led all Challengers with career bests for hits (74), doubles (26), total bases (139), and an amazing .507 batting average. The award for Best Fielder again went to Tobias Siegrist, who, in his sophomore year, already established himself as one of the best catchers in Switzerland.
