Challengers win 14-3 in 7 against Devils

The Challengers scored half of their total runs in the first inning en route to a 14-3 rout of the Wil Devils in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

Jesus Martinez led all batters with three hits in four at-bats, including his first homer of the season, and collecting a career-high five RBIs. Tobias Siegrist also homered, and Robert Sedin had three doubles and a single and scored four times.

The Challengers sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning and starter Siegrist was given a 7-0 lead before he even threw a single pitch.

He went five innings for his first win of the season, allowing three earned runs on five hits and no walks, while also striking out six.

Thomas Burger threw two shutout innings to finish the game in what was his 100th career appearance on the mound in the NLA.

Game notes
Sedin's four runs and three doubles are both career highs. His three doubles were the most since James Sanders had four against the Sissach Frogs on June 21, 2009. He also reached on an error in the seventh inning in what was his 400th plate appearance in the NLA. …Harry Bregy's single in the seventh inning was his 300th total base in the NLA.
