Juveniles washed out in Therwil
The U12 Juveniles will remember the start of the 2023 season in Therwil for a while. But not for sporting reasons. The severely decimated Challengers team not only had to contend with a good opponent but also with the weather. Game 1 was played in partly torrential rain, which made things even more difficult for the pitchers Maor Müller and Roy Gonzalez. The Challengers not only got wet from above, but also had to bow to the Therwil Flyers clearly with 3-12. The second game could not be played because of an unplayable field.
The Challengers now have some time until the next game day to work on their technique in practice. On May 7th they will host the SG Eagles/Unicorns at the Klopstockwiese.
U12-Juveniles finish in 3rd place at Therwil
The youngest Challengers’ team, the U12-Juveniles, played its first indoor tournament of 2017 on Sunday, January 22 at Therwil. As several key players of the 2016 championship team moved up to the U15 squad, the C’s lined up with a different roster than last year. Especially in the first games the automatisms didn’t work that well, but the Challengers improved their level of play in the course of the tournament. Against the Neuenburg Atomics, who won the tournament, the C’s were even leading 4-2. At the end the Challengers finished the tournament in 3rd place.

U12-Juveniles remain perfect
The youngest team of the Challengers organization opened the weekend successfully on Saturday at Embrach. The U12-Juveniles, who won all of their six games played so far, posted an impressive 11-2 victory over the strong Rümlang Kobras. In the second game of the day against the SG Lions/BTE the C’s had more problems than expected, but finally won 7-4. The Challengers remain perfect with a 8-0 record and are on the way to qualify for this year’s playoffs.

The Challengers finished the indoor season in style at the Rümlang indoor tournament that took place on Saturday, March 19. The U12-Juveniles won their third tournament in a row. After a loss in the round robin against the Vikings/Devils the Challengers turned things around in the final game, winning 11-5 against the same opponent. Nick Siemers and Bastian Kämpfer – in the final – delivered homeruns for the C’s.
In the afternoon the U15-Cadets surprisingly clinched a final berth as well. After a 5-5 tie with the Therwil Flyers the Challengers/Bandits posted a 6-3 win over the Vikings/Devils. And even in the final against the Rümlang Kobras the C’s took an early 4-0 lead. But the Kobras fought back to eventually win 8-6. Nonetheless it was the best performance from the Challengers in 2016 so far.
Juveniles win again
The U12-Juveniles confirmed the progress they made over the last few months and won the U12 Category at the 3rd Dreitannen Cup in Olten. The Challengers played three highly concentrated games with good performances with the bats and gloves. The team of head coach Adrian Kämpfer finished in first place with wins over the Therwil Flyers, the Dulliken Truckstar and the Hünenberg Unicorns. After the success in Embrach four weeks ago, this is already the second tournament win of the indoor season. The last indoor tournament of the season will take place on March 19 at Rümlang, before the outdoor season starts on April 2 at Wittenbach.
The U15-Cadets played a good tournament as well, finishing in 3rd place with a 2-2 record. The Challengers posted two wins against the Therwil Flyers and the TruckStar/Hunters and lost to the Hünenberg Unicorns and the Sissach Frogs, who won the tournament. Divianshu Tyagi was responsible for the highlight of the afternoon, as he belted a homerun against the TruckStar/Hunters.

The U12-Juveniles finish the 2015 season in fourth place. As in the semi-final series against the Swiss champions Rümlang Kobras the SG TruckStar/Challengers was far away from winning the games for third place against the SG Vikings/Devils. The SG lost 5-27 and 2-19. Nonetheless finishing in fourth place is the best result since the two clubs are cooperating. (photo by TruckStar)
Juveniles lose in Semi-Finals
The U12-Juveniles lost their best-of-3 semi-final series against the top seeded Rümlang Kobras on Sunday, August 23 at Rümlang. The SG TruckStar/Challengers had no chance against the still undefeated Kobras. The SG lost the two games 1-21 and 5-15. The other semi-finals between the Therwil Flyers and the Devils/Vikings is tied at 1-1 after two games. Nonetheless the 2015 season was the best for the SG TruckStar/Challengers since the two clubs are cooperating. The Challengers would like to thank the TruckStar for the good cooperation.
