Challengers down Cardinals 11-3

Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader between the Challengers and Bern Cardinals was a surprisingly clear affair.

Tobias Siegrist allowed the Cardinals only one scoring inning as he went the distance for his fifth win of the season. The Cardinals broke through in the second inning to temporarily tie the score at 3-3 on a double and two singles. Siegrist finished with three runs allowed - one of them unearned - on nine hits and one base-on-balls, while also striking out seven.

James Sanders led the offense as he went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored, Gabriel Holguin added a career-high four RBI’s - all of them with two outs -, and Siegrist reached four times in five plate appearances to raise his team-leading on-base percentage to .589.

Game notes
Siegrist’s five wins are the most since getting five in 2011.
