Byrne named Challengers MVP

byrneRyan Byrne was named the Challengers 2014 MVP at the General Assembly on November 30. Byrne led the team with 8 wins and set a new Swiss single season record with 182 strikeouts. He finished the season with a 2.47 ERA and set team-leading marks with 43 hits and 18 stolen bases, while batting .417 and scoring 27 runs.

Lowuin Sacramento was credited with the Best Pitcher award, as he finished the season with a 2-2 record and a franchise best 0.53 ERA while striking out 54 batters in 37.1 innings of work.

Robert Sedin was honored with the Best Batter award, as he led the Challengers with a .462 batting average, a .519 on-base percentage, 12 doubles and 37 runs scored and collected 42 hits and 15 RBI’s.

Tobias Siegrist was named Best Fielder, as he finished the year with a .982 fielding percentage, committing only 3 errors in 167 chances, while Carlos Nepomuceno received the Rookie of the Year award, as he recorded five hits with a .258 on-base percentage and collected 5 RBI’s in 28 at bats.
