Bonnet will join Softball-Team


Newly acquired softball pitcher Danielle Bonnet will arrive in Zurich on Wednesday to join the Challengers Softball-Team. The 21-year old right-handed pitcher, who was born in Phoenix, Arizona, played with the Pacific Tigers from the University of the Pacific, California. Bonnet, who graduated in sports medicine, pitched in 101 games, had a 36-44 record with 2 saves and a 4.19 ERA in 454.2 innings pitched with 236 strikeouts in her four years with the Tigers.
Before that Bonnet played with the Mustangs Softball Team for the Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, Arizona, where she was the ace in the circle, finishing her senior year with a 18-1 record and a 0.69 ERA. She earned all-state honors in her final year at high school and region player of the year status.
Bonnet will make her debut for the Challengers on Sunday against the Bern Cardinals at Bern.

Softball-Team edged in local derby

The Challengers ladies lost against the Zürich Barracudas on Tuesday night, May 19. And it was a roller-coaster game with – once more – the better end for the Barracudas.The Challengers led four times by three runs, but the Barracudas answered every time right away and the newly acquired Nina Wolfensberger drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 14-13. Though they lost, the C’s bats were on fire, as Sandrine Montandon led her team going 4-for-4 with five RBI’s. The C’s will face the Cardinals on May 31 at Bern.

Cadets lose twice on Opening Day

The U15-Cadets opened their campaign on Sunday, May 17 with two losses. The premiere for the SG Bandits/Challengers ended with a 1-16 loss to the Black Hawks with players from the Zürich Lions and the Embrach Mustangs. The second game was all Kobras, as the hosting Rümlang Kobras posted an easy 19-2 victory. From the Challengers Dominik and Fabian Leonhardt and Jayfry Meier were in the line-up.

Cadets Premiere mit zwei Niederlagen

Die U15-Cadets eröffneten ihre Saison am Sonntag, 17. Mai mit zwei Niederlagen. Bei der Premiere der Spielgemeinschaft Bandits/Challengers gab es gegen die Black Hawks mit Spielern von den Zürich Lions und den Embrach Mustangs ein 1-16, die zweite Partie ging gegen die Gastgeber Rümlang Kobras mit 2-19 verloren. Von den Challengers mit dabei waren Dominik und Fabian Leonhardt und Jayfry Meier.

Juveniles add another win

The U12-Juveniles remain successful in 2015. The SG TruckStar/Challengers celebrated another victory on its third game day of the season. Though several players were missing the SG posted a 10-7 win against the SG Cardinals/Frogs/Hunters at Dulliken. The second game of the day against the SG Unicorns/Eagles has been canceled. With the win the SG is now in second place with a 4-2 record.
