Challengers keep rolling with 22-2 win; strengthen hold on 2nd place

Roger Brunner showed why he was once the no. 2 starter on the Challengers' NLA-team as he started his first game in over four years, getting a complete-game victory in Sunday's 22-2 win over the Zurich Lions.

	Harry Bregy went 4-for-5 to boost his batting average to .386.

Brunner went the distance and gave up only two runs - one of them unearned - on seven hits and no walks while striking out 12.

It was his first win since August 31, 1997 in his first start since July 13, 1997.

His battery mate was Manny Marchant who caught the first game in his four year NLA-career, getting the credit for only one passed ball and just one baserunner stealing a base against him.

The Challengers' offense was sparked by Jose Vazquez' perfect 6-for-6 show, including two doubles and four RBI's, Harry Bregy's career-high four hits in five at-bats, and Jose Valdez' third homer in two games to give him a team-leading six on the season.

The Challengers matched their 28 hits in Game 1, and they also stole five bases.

The win was the Challengers' ninth in a row, securing them a playoff berth for the fifth season in a row.
