Sanders shuts out Cardinals in 3-0 win

James Sanders remained untouchable in 2010 as he cruised to his third win of the season.

The Challengers
The Challengers' newest member Casimiro contributed with two hits and two stolen bases.
It was his second shutout of the season, and he has yet to allow a run in 23 innings pitched. He has also struck out 18 and walked just two batters over the course of this season.

Newly-acquired Jay Casimiro went 2-for-3 and two stolen bases, and player coach Brian Hipps added two more hits to push his team-leading batting average to .488.

The entire game, no Cardinal touched third base and Raphael Hänzi was the only batter to reach second base, twice in the second and fourth inning.

Sanders faced 27 batters in seven innings, walking none and striking out five. Six singles were all the Cards could get off him.

The Challengers, on the other hand, got to starter John Baum as Casimiro lined an RBI-single up the middle in the third inning, scoring Hipps from second base.

But Baum remained in control, retiring six of the next eight batters he faced.

In the fifth inning, Jesus Martinez plated Casimiro with an RBI-triple, and light-hitting Tom Huston scored him with a bloop sacrifice fly to center field.

That was more than enough as Sanders mastered the Cardinals in every way.

Game notes
Both sides played a flawless defense.
