Cards all over Challengers in 17-0 rout

After getting crushed 17-3 in the first contest of Sunday's doubleheader, the Challengers were destined to get some revenge.

They soon had to bury their plans as Eduardo Villacis and John Baum proved to be too strong and combined for a 4-hit shutout in a 17-0 romp.

Samy Paulino had a homer in a 2-for-5 performance and collected three RBIs, Jhonny Perigos went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, and Seth Suplin added three more hits in a 17-hit attack.

Starter Patrick Maier lasted only three innings and was lifted after giving up seven runs - three of them unearned - on eight hits and three walks.

Because missing some of their young arms, the Challengers had to use a make-shift bullpen of Chris Palatinus (five runs in 1 2-3 innings) and Jesus Martinez (four runs in 1-3 innings).
