Challengers rally for 11-7 win

The Challengers faced an Eagles team full of former Challengers, from which they got some help in a come-from-behind 11-7 win in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Former Challengers head coach Andy Fleischacker blew a 3-run lead in the fifth inning, and was charged with the loss, Carlos Peña committed two costly errors, Jesus Martinez remained hitless in two at-bats and Yanik Probst had only one bunt single in five at-bats.

Robert Sedin picked up his first win of the season by tossing five innings in relief in which he gave up only an unearned run, one hit, one walk and one hit-by-pitch, while also striking out seven.

Fabio Aimi started and lasted four innings, but he was hit hard in the fourth inning as the Eagles strung together four hits (two singles, a double and a triple) with two outs, scoring four times for a 6-3 lead.

That erased the Challengers' 3-0 lead after the first inning when four of the first five batters reached on three singles and a double off Ronal Veras.

The Eagles got two runs back in the second inning on three consecutive singles and two errors in the infield.

Veras' day ended when he allowed the first four batters of the fifth inning to reach on three doubles and an error, and Fleischacker took over to end the threat.

But he was greeted by rookie Luigi Cinardi's two-run single that tied the game, and Bryan Shemley gave the Challengers the lead for good with his sacrifice fly to left.

The Challengers added three more runs in the sixth inning on two more Eagle errors, two singles and another sacrifice fly, this time by rookie Carlos Nepomuceno.

Yet another error and a wild pitch in the seventh inning extended the Challengers' lead to 11-6 after seven, and only thanks to three errors by the Challengers' infield in the eighth inning, the Eagles managed to manufacture one unearned run off Sedin for the final score of 11-7.

Game notes
After losing three out of four contests against the Eagles last season, the Challengers have already two wins against them this season, and also climbed over the .500 mark for the first time this season. ...Aimi remains winless in three starts this season and also saw his ERA raise to 6.89. He made up for that with four hits at the plate. ...Siegrist has the team's longest current hitting streak with nine.
