Barracudas drop Challengers 15-6

The Challengers and Barracudas met for the third time this season for a night game at the Heerenschürli, and after two tight games in the first two encounters, everybody expected nothing less this time around.

But the game was over after the first half inning as the Barracudas pounded starter Andrea Girasole for eight runs en route to a suspense-less 15-6 win.

The Cudas sent 13 batters to the plate and scored their eight runs on seven hits and two errors, taking out all drama after just 30 minutes.

Girasole set career highs for runs allowed (14), earned runs allowed (10), hits allowed (15) and wild pitches with three in seven innings, earning him his first loss of the season.

The Challengers managed to crawl back up until half way of the game, cutting the deficit into half, but the Cudas answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to dampen the Challengers’ hopes for a comeback.

Thomas Burger picked up a career-high three hits, and Vladimir Mordan reached four times on two hits and two walks, while Simon Steffen of the Barracudas picked up the win by tossing 5 1-3 shutout innings in relief.

Game notes
The 14 runs allowed by Girasole were the most since Chris Palatinus allowed 16 against the Therwil Flyers on September 25, 2010.
