4Eagles rally Past Challengers 4-3 behind Baez`s stellar relief pitching
Fernando Baez Aybar delivered a dominant performance in relief, pitching five hitless innings with eight strikeouts while adding three hits at the plate to lead the Luzern Eagles to a 4-3 victory over the Challengers. Hayden Jung-Goldberg paced the Challengers`offense with two hits and two stolen bases, but starter Ari Lonstein took the loss despite striking out nine batters over six innings.The Challengers took an early advantage in the first inning, scoring twice after Leonel Yemalla Hernandez Reyes reached on an error and scored on a Hayden Jung-Goldberg RBI single. Jung-Goldberg then stole second and came around to score on another infield error. The Challengers extended their lead to 3-0 in the second when Noah Nussbaum Hernandez hit a bunt single and scored on a double by Hernandez Reyes alongside a catcher error. Fernando Baez Aybar entered the game in relief for Luzern in the third inning with the bases loaded and immediately ended the threat with a strikeout, a popout, and a fielder's choice. The Eagles began their comeback in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs on a Challengers error and an RBI groundout by Oliver Scherr. Luzern pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alejandro Guido Burgener Rodriguez walked, stole second, and scored the tying run on an error. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Adam Greenberg drew a walk to force in Sven Ambühl with the go-ahead run. Baez Aybar completed his stellar outing by pitching a scoreless seventh inning to seal the 4-3 win, finishing with 5.0 hitless and walkless innings.
