Red Barons 15, Challengers 14

The second game of the doubleheader against the Red Barons was much more of a contest as the Red Barons again came out winners, but this time only with a one-run differential.

Harry Bregy pitched a complete game and lost it by giving up 10 earned runs.
The Red Barons had leads of 6-1 and 9-4 but trailed 11-13 in the top of the sixth before finally pulling ahead for good as they scored four times in the bottom of the sixth. They sent 9 batters to the plate and only two of them managed to get a hit. The other four batters that got on base reached on walks and all of them eventually scored.

Before that, the Challengers were able to go ahead 11-9 in the top of the fifth as they scored five times on four consecutive hits and a fielder's choice.

The Red Barons came back though and managed to get a tie at 11 in the bottom of the inning before allowing two more runs by the Challengers in the next inning.

The Challengers had one more chance in the top of the seventh to win it all or at least force a tie.

It started well when Philippe Rérat drew a walk with one out and stole second base on the next pitch. Alexis Misailidis, who had four hits in the first game, struck out for the second consecutive time and the second out. Beat Eichenberger then singled and Rérat scored on an error by shortstop Baroncelli. Eichenberger now was on second with the tying run and at bat was Thomas Blank, a rookie who had just one hit all day. He struck out but reached first on a dropped third strike by the catcher. Eichenberger raced to third to put the tying run 60 feet away from home. Next up was another rookie, Tobias Siegrist. He hit a deep fly ball to center that seemed to tie the game. But center fielder Di Prima, who already made two errors in this game, scrambled under the ball and made a lucky catch to finish the game and give the Red Barons their second win of the season.

Best actor on the field was Urs Blickenstorfer who played in only his second game of the season after finishing his duties in the army. He already has four hits in seven at-bats to give him a convincing .571 batting average.

The defense committed eight costly errors that in the end proved decisive and cost the game for the Challengers.
