Willy Schaub pitched to five batters in the seventh but failed to get an out.
The second game started much worse for the NLB-team as the Devils jumped to an unsurmountable lead after three innings. Starter Harry Bregy (1-3) was able to keep the Devils' offense off balance but his defense committed costly errors early on. The result was seven unearned runs on five errors and an 11-3 deficit after just three completed innings.

Bregy was relieved by Patrick Bosshard who allowed six runs in three innings, but just one of them was earned as the defense continued to struggle and commit three more errors.

Willy Schaub started the seventh when the Challengers trailed 17-6 and already gave up hope of catching the Devils. He pitched to five batters, walking two, hitting one, giving up a single and allowing a baserunner to reach on an error by catcher Nicki Lehmann.

In came Bregy once again and promptly gave up a homer to Sopa, his second homer of the game, that definitively sealed the game for the Devils. Two of the next three Devil batters struck out on purpose as they laid down bunts that rolled foul. Not a very nice gesture by the guests.

Another sour taste in the soup were the stolen bases by the Devils when they were already leading by ten and more runs. It's an unwritten rule that you don't steal bases when you're ahead by that much, but who knows, the Devils will learn one day.
