The Romanshorn Submarines recorded their first shutout of the season as Schiavo held the Challengers to six hits and striking out seven. The Challengers managed to put only six runners in scoring position and only two of them on third base.

It was the first time the NLB-team of the Challengers was shut out in several years. No batter had more than one hit and Harry Bregy had the best performance of them all, going 1-for-3 with a single, a base-on-balls and a stolen base. The only other Challenger to reach base twice was Patrick Zöllig who was also walked and recorded a single in the sixth inning.

The Challengers had their best chance to score in the third inning, as Tobias Siegrist and Bregy hit back-to-back singles to open the inning. But the next three batters retired on a strikeout, a lineout to the pitcher and a groundout back to the mound. They threated once more in the fourth as Philippe Rérat singled and reached second on a passed ball with one out. Zöllig struck out for the second out but Stefan Eisenring reached on a dropped ball by the first baseman. The Challengers now had runners on first and third with two outs but Siegrist just managed to hit a routine fly ball to center field that ended the inning.

After that, the Challengers had only three more baserunners before Schiavo finished with his first shutout of the season.
