Devils 10, Challengers 3

The Challengers lost their first game in the NLB Promotion round against the Wil Devils 10-3 and collected just eight hits, the lowest total since Game 10 against the Red Barons on June 7 as they also collected just eight hits.

Starter Patrick Bosshard lasted just 2 1-3 innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits and one base-on-balls.
The three runs scored set a season low, one less than in Game 3 against the Braves on May 2.

The Challengers scored in the first inning on a passed ball by catcher Sopa, but didn't score any until the fifth inning when they profited from the Devils' first error of the game, and scoring again on Cameron Minns' run-scoring groundout.

Isenring led off the game for the Devils with a homer and the Devils never looked back after that. They scored seven times in the first three innings off starter Patrick Bosshard for a 7-1 lead, and Harry Bregy came in to relieve Bosshard in the third inning.

The Challengers managed to put just two runners on second base through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th inning before Patrick Zöllig scored from second in the fifth inning on left fielder Fillinger's defensive blunder.

The Devils put together 15 hits against Bosshard and Bregy and scored in every inning except the fifth, and avenged two bitter losses against the Challengers on May 10 as they lost 8-7 and 9-7, both times in the final inning.

The Challengers committed no errors for the first time since Game 7 against the Truck Stars on May 24.

NLA regular Nick Lehmann started in left field to gear up for the NLA Playoffs, starting on September 5.
