The Challengers started strong by scoring three times in the top of the first inning on Patrick Zoellig's RBI-single and Tobias Siegrist's two-run homer off Jerome Müller. It was the first Challenger homer of this season.

But defensive blunders cost the Challengers the lead already in the bottom of the innning. Only one of the four runs scored by the Eagles was earned, and starter Zöllig (1-2) escaped a bases-loaded jam by striking out Jerome Müller.

But the Eagles did even better in the second inning and sent 11 batters to the plate who scored eight times on Enz' 2-run homer and Stalder's grand slam four batters later. Steiner also crossed the plate later in the inning after he reached on an error by center fielder Willy Schaub. Schaub tripped on the muddy ground and the pop up hit him in the face. He stayed in the game but had to be hospitalized afterwards.

The Challengers weren't able to score off Jerome Müller, and they weren't able to make the basic plays either. They committed four more errors through the rest of the game for a grand total of nine, compared to one by the Eagles' defense.

At the end, the Eagles scored in all six innings for a total of 25 runs, eight of which were unearned.
