Challengers outlast Unicorns 9-8

The Challengers hit three homers in the final two innings and held off the Hunenberg Unicorns for an exciting 9-8 victory on Saturday.

Tobias Siegrist, Benny Räber and Patrick Bosshard homered in the seventh and eight inning to withstand the Unicorns' Holloman two two-run homers in the eighth and nine inning.

The Challengers took the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a defensive blunder by left fielder Von Ah, Harry Bregy's RBI-single and a bases-load walk to Manuel Schretzmann.

The Unicorns stayed right on track and scored a run each in the third and fourth innings to get within two runs after 3 1/2 innings.

Oliver Labhart started for the first time on the mound for the Challengers and pitched 5+ innings.

He left in the top of the sixth inning after a hit-by-pitch, a single and an error by shortstop Räber.

He was relieved by Bregy who pitched the final four innings. He picked up his second win of the season by allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three.

Mark Imhof pitched a complete game for the Unicorns and surrendered nine earned runs on ten hits and seven walks and three hit-by-pitches. He also struck out 12.

Game notes: Rookies Protim Datta and Oliver Deck shared the no. 8 spot in the lineup and they struck out five times. ...Räber's homer was his third of the season, and also his 17th total base, leading all NLB-players.
