Challengers lose 20-11 to Moose Junction for 5th straight defeat

The Olten Moose Junction picked up their fast-paced hitting in the first inning in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, sending 11 batters to the plate to take a comfortable 6-0 lead after the first frame off starter Claudio Deck.

Claudio Deck, whose brother Oliver Deck was roughed up for five runs without recording a single out in the first game, lasted 4+ innings, and left the mound for reliever Beni Blank.

Blank managed to keep the Moose Junction in check, allowing just three runs - one of them unearned - on three hits and one base-on-balls in the final two innings.

But the Challengers' offense again was harmless as it combined for 12 hits, including doubles by Adrian Kämpfer">Adrian Kämpfer and Willy Schaub, and Claudio Deck's first career homer to lead off the third inning.

But the Moose Junction's offense, combined with some untimely errors by the Challenger defense, accounted for 20 runs, of which eight were unearned.

Notable performances came from Orlando Balbuena who had a season-high three hits and two RBI's, and Kämpfer's season-high four RBI's to give him a team-leading 15 on the season.
