The Challengers rallied from a 9-3 deficit, but eventually lost in the bottom of the seventh inning in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Embrach Rainbows.

Adrian Kämpfer">Adrian Kämpfer went 2-for-4 and scored a game-high three runs.
The Rainbows quickly built up a 5-0 lead after just two innings off starter Oliver Labhart.

On the other hand, the Challengers managed to score their first run off Roger Savoldelli in the third inning on two consecutive errors.

The Rainbows kept piling up the runs, scoring two more in the bottom of the third, and one run apiece in the fourth and fifth innings for a commanding 9-3 lead.

But the Challengers got their act together in the top of the sixth inning by combining for five singles that led to four runs.

Labhart, still on the mound in the sixth inning, kept the opposition scoreless in the bottom half of the inning.

A double by Orlando Balbuena and two more errors enabled the Challengers to knot the score at 9-9 in the top of the seventh inning.

Balbuena - already having collected three wins in the Promotion Round - relieved in the bottom of the seventh inning.

But his stay was a short one as Albrecht greeted him with a leadoff double, and Valdez plated him with an RBI-single, giving the Rainbows a 10-9 win in their final at-bat.
