Challengers win ugly contest 25-16

The Challengers successfully tried to avenge Game 1’s loss as they beat the Geneva Dragons 25-16 in convincing fashion in the second contest of the day.

Although the Dragons again managed to start quickly by scoring four times in the top of the second inning, the Challengers were able to profit from a disastrous Dragon defense to score six unearned runs in the bottom half of the second frame.

The Dragons committed seven errors alone in that inning.

And without getting a single hit, the Challengers scored six runs for a head-bobbling 7-4 lead.

The Dragons could answer only with a single run in the next inning, and were never able to tie the game the rest of the way.

Starter Oliver Labhart finally got his first win of the season in his third try by pitching 6 1-3 innings despite constant back pain.

He is day-to-day and will be examined this week.

Manuel Schretzmann got the final two outs, ending a game in which both teams combined for 41 runs on 28 hits and 22 errors.

Only 16 of the combined 41 runs were earned.
