Unicorns sweep Challengers with 19-4 blowout

Adderly Sarmiento had three hits and scored two runs in Game 2, while spot starter Dean Scherbaum tossed a complete game with five strikeouts, but the defense committed seven errors, as the C’s lost 4-19.

Manuel Schretzmann and Nick Lehmann had the other two hits in a poor 5-hit attack by the Challengers, as they were dominated again by a strong pitching performance, this time by Orlando Balbuena and Lopez.

All four of the runs they gave up were unearned, as the Challengers wasted some good scoring opportunities in the third and fifth innings, stranding both times two runners.

Scherbaum was left helpless on the mound against a strong hitting display by the Unicorns, scattering 15 hits and four walks which resulted in 19 runs - eight of them unearned thanks to seven misplays in the field.

The Challengers own now a 5-11 record, only one game ahead of the Therwil Flyers for a relegation spot.
