Challengers defeat Indians 13-8 behind big first inning

The Lausanne Indians took an early lead in the top of the first inning when Colin Dorsett singled to center to score Ethan Catanzariti. However, the Challengers answered emphatically in the bottom of the frame, scoring eight runs behind a string of walks, errors, passed balls, and a two-run single from Ari Lonstein. The Challengers added a run in the second when Noam Blickenstorfer scored on an error to make it 9-1. Lausanne chipped away in the fourth inning when Maxime Flayol delivered a bases-clearing three-run double and later scored on a passed ball to trim the margin to 9-5. In the fifth, the Challengers got a run back as Joseph Stotz singled and scored on an RBI double by Ari Lonstein. Lausanne pressed on in the sixth with two runs, as Maxime Flayol scored on a third-base error and Léon Michel hit an RBI single. The Challengers put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth with three runs, including an RBI single from Joseph Stotz. Lausanne scored once more in the seventh on a wild pitch, but Blickenstorfer sealed the 13-8 victory for Zürich. Gwendal Mottay took the loss for Lausanne.
