Challengers keep playoff hopes alive, win 6-3 against Cards

The Softball-Team stays in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot till the last day of the Round Robin. But now their fate isn't in their own hands anymore. The Challengers split with the Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 7 to defend their fourth place with a 6-14 record.

The Challengers posted a 6-3 win in Game 1, as they broke a 3-3 tie with two outs in the seventh frame.

The Cardinals tied the game twice in the first and fifth innings, but three runs in the seventh inning were too much for the Cards. Sandrine Montandon delivered a RBI-single to drive in Simona Cellar, before Cheyenne La Marr and Meret Roth had back-to-back RBI-singles to drive in Ying-Jui Hsu and Henna Määttä to make it 6-3.

Leandra Simitovic recorded her fourth win of the season, while Simitovic, Cellar, Montandon, Määttä and Roth had two hits apiece.

Game notes
Simitovic collected her 200th hit for the Challengers, as she singled off of Cornelia Noti in the fifth inning. Simitovic is leading the all-time list for hits, Simona Cellar is in second place with 121.
