Barracudas defeat Challengers 12-5

The Barracudas powered past the Challengers 12-5, driven by a ten-run outburst over the first two innings. Piper Reed, Amy Mathis, Lara Brändli, and Naomi Saillen paced the offense, while pitcher Solana Lutz earned the victory in relief.

The Barracudas took control early with a five-run first inning. After loading the bases, Piper Reed stroked a two-run double to left field. Three wild pitches by Challengers starter Tanja Neff allowed two more runs to score before Lara Brändli capped the frame with an RBI single up the middle.
The Barracudas extended their lead to 10-0 in the top of the second against reliever Simona Cellar. Ines Dübendorfer and Amy Mathis recorded back-to-back RBI hits, while two Challengers fielding errors and a bases-loaded walk by Lara Brändli brought home three additional runs. The Challengers scored their first run in the bottom half on a groundout by Tanja Neff.
In the third inning, Challengers shortstop Kirsten Rene Schmidt drove in Mia Matas with a double and later stole home against relief pitcher Solana Lutz to trim the lead to 10-3.
The Barracudas responded in the top of the fourth when pinch-hitter Jessica Rölli singled and eventually scored alongside Chiara Perisset on a two-run single by Naomi Saillen.
The Challengers pushed across two final runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout from Gisele Pinck and an RBI single by Marianne Martina Aellen, but the Barracudas closed out the 12-5 win.
