Challengers take Game 1

The Challengers won the series opener against the defending Swiss champion Bern Cardinals on Saturday, September 14 at Bern. The C's posted a 9-4 victory over the Cardinals to stop their seven-game losing streak against the Cards. Ten years ago the C's won their last postseason game against the Cards, dropping 12 straight postseason games in that span.

Eidrys Reyes and Robert Sedin went 4-for-5 and scored two runs apiece, while Säntis Zeller and Francisco Colindres drove in three runs each. Starter Tobias Siegrist allowed four runs – two earned – and seven hits with no walks while striking out nine in eight innings of work and Andrea Girasole finished it in the ninth.

Game 2 of the best-of-five semi-final serie will take place on Saturday, September 28 at the Heerenschürli ballpark. On the upcoming weekend the Bern Cardinals will play the European Cup Playoffs at the Heerenschürli ballpark, as the Cards will face the Senart Templiers from France and the Ukrainian team KNTU Elizavetgrad.
