GB wins, Swiss remain in B-Pool

The Swiss Baseball National Team won its last game at the European Championship in Zürich on Friday, July 26, as the Swiss posted a 11-1 victory over Slovenia. Switzerland took an early 7-0 lead. Angelo Rodriguez, who played its last game for the National Team, and Sebastian Zwyer delivered three hits each, while Andrea Girasole walked away with the win, as he allowed one run, three hits and one walk with one strikeout in five innings, before Harry Bregy and Roger Savoldelli combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

Switzerland finished the European Championship on fifth place with a 2-3 record. Great Britain won the tournament after posting a 2-0 victory against the Ukraine in Saturday's final. The British took the lead in the second inning, as Ian Young drove in Sam Wiley followed by a RBI-single from Ryan Trask to make it 2-0 and they never looked back. Pitcher Greg Hendrix tossed a complete game allowing just five hits and one walk while also striking out 13.
