Challengers open season with 12-3 win

After playing to a 3-3 tie after five innings, the Challengers explode for nine runs in the final two innings for a 12-3 win on Opening Day against the Sissach Frogs.

Harry Bregy pitched a complete-game five-hitter for his third consecutive Opening Day win, Anubis Benitez went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Thomas Landis, back from retirement, had also two hits, one of them an RBI-double.

The Challengers profited from a shaky pitching performance by the Frogs, whose pitchers gave up 10 walks and recorded only one strike out.

The Frogs' defense also committed three errors that led to three unearned runs.

The Challengers' offensive performance was a team-like performance. No real big highlights by anybody as every player except Bryan Shemley and Chris Palatinus had at least one hit. Shemley reached twice on two walks, and Palatinus went 0-for-0 with three walks and also reached on a catcher's interference.

Game notes
Bregy cruised through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings retiring eight batters in a row. In the fourth inning, he just needed four pitches to retire the side.
