Challengers waste Devils with 13-2 rout

Not letting up after Game 1's 11-0 rout, the Challengers trashed the Wil Devils 13-2 in Sunday's second contest.

Thomas Burger worked five innings for his second win in as many starts, giving up only two earned runs on three hits and six walks, while also striking out four.

Both runs Burger gave up came in the first inning on Adam Wentzell's two-run double. After that, no runner reached second base until the fifth inning.

With runners on third and second in the fifth, and trailing 7-2, Wentzell came up, but grounded out weakly to first to end the threat.

The Challengers broke open the game in the top of the sixth as they sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring six unanswered runs on eight hits off reliever Roger Isenring.

Geovanni Ureña worked the final two innings, allowing only one more hit to Josh Crouse.

Ureña's four doubles tie a franchise-high, set by Thomas Landis on Sep. 21, 2002. ...With 38 stolen bases, the Challengers have already surpassed their last year total of 36.
