Challengers win regular season finale against Barracudas

The Challengers managed to end the regular season on a positive note, beating their crosstown rivals Zurich Barrcaudas 11-2 in the season finale.

Bregy went 2-for-2, raising his team-leading average to .386.
Bregy went 2-for-2, raising his team-leading average to .386.
Harry Bregy worked two innings for his first win since April 22, relieving starter Thomas Landis in the fourth inning.

Patrick Zöllig and Bryan Shemley wrapped up the game by pitching one inning each, allowing no more runs and just two hits.

The Challengers' offense roughed up starter Frank Berchtold and chased him after just two innings.

Rookie Spring didn't fare much better, giving up seven runs over two innings.

The Challengers outhit their opponents 13-7, with Zöllig going a perfect 3-for-3, including two doubles off Spring and Chris Hyatt, and also collecting a game-high three RBI's.

The Barracudas managed to score only two runs, one each in the first two innings, in Landis' 125th start in the NLA. He left due to a sore shoulder after three innings.

Although the Challengers committed five errors, their win was never in doubt thanks to a solid pitching performance and a great offensive display all around.

The Challengers finish the regular season with a 12-8 record, tying both the Zurich Barracudas and Reussbuhl Eagles. But since both the Barracudas and the Eagles have beaten the Challengers three out of four times in the regular season, the Challengers finish in fourth place.

They will face the Bern Cardinals in the Best-Of-Three Semifinals, a rematch of last season's Swiss Finals.
