Burger controls Frogs' bats in 6-2 win

Thomas Burger dominated the Sissach Frogs with a complete game gem, winning 6-2 in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

He scattered three hits over nine innings, allowing only two unearned runs and also striking out six.

The Challengers jumped early on Steve Klee, scoring five times in the first three innings.

Tobias Siegrist, Thomas Landis and Chris Palatinus combined for five singles, three runs and two RBI's in those opening innings.

After that, the two teams exchanged zeros on the board, with the Frogs striking next in the bottom of the sixth.

With the bases loaded, Alessandro Traina hit a line drive to second baseman Patrick Zöllig that he caught, but then threw wide off first in an attempt to double Klarer off first base. That enabled all baserunners to advance two bases, pushing two unearned runs across the plate.

The Challengers got one run back on Siegrist's RBI-double, his seventh of the season.

Burger went on to finish the game, evening his season record to 3-3.
