3 Challenger pitchers combine on 5-hit shutout of Frogs

James Sanders, Willy Schaub and Andy Fleischacker shut out the Sissach Frogs in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Starter Sanders allowed only four hits and one base-on-balls in five innings, while also striking out three, giving him his first win in a Challengers uniform.

Willy Schaub pitched the sixth inning, allowing only a single and a base-on-balls, and player-manager Andy Fleischacker pitched the final inning in his farewell game with the team.

Ivano Piaia was the only Frog with an extra-base hit as he hit a ground-rule double in the sixth inning.

Other than that, the Challengers' pitchers were supported by their infielders who turned two double plays, and an outfield assist by Thomas Landis that nailed Alessandro Traina at home plate in the second inning.

The Challengers combined on nine hits - six of them doubles -, and struck out only once.

They also committed only one error.
