The first night game in Swiss Baseball history ended after 10 innings with a 4-3 win by the Zurich Barracudas against the Zurich Challengers.

With a historic doubleheader already played at the new Heerenschürli ballpark, the two franchises clashed for another classic game.

In the fifth, the Challengers rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, and then again in the eighth from a 3-2 deficit, but saw their efforts evaporate as Chris Bissig hit a blooper over the infield for a 4-3 win in the bottom of the 10th.

Tobias Siegrist's strong performance over 9 1-3 innings was in vain as the Challengers' offense failed to put together two hits in a row against Andi Rüesch and reliever Beni Montag.

The Barracudas took the lead in the first inning on Hasson Rogers' RBI-double and a throwing error by catcher Jay Casimiro.

The Barracudas managed to load the bases in the third inning, but failed to score a run, while the Challengers scored in the fourth on Yonimiler Martinez' RBI-single, and Farid Bekkali's long RBI-double in the fifth.

The Barracudas then profited from a sloppy defensive showing by the Challengers in the bottom half of the fifth as they committed three errors, giving the Barracudas a 3-2 lead.

Brian Hipps' RBI-single in the top of the eighth off reliever Montag knotted the score at 3 apiece.

With runners on third and second, and no outs, Yonimiler Martinez struck out looking on a curveball, Jesus Martinez grounded into a rundown that nailed Hipps between third and home, and after Casimiro received an intentional walk to load the bases, Chris Palatinus fouled out to catcher Sascha Litscher for the third out.

Both Montag and Siegrist retired all the batters in the ninth inning, and Montag surrendered only one more base-on-balls to Yonimiler Martinez in the top of the 10th frame.

In the bottom half of the inning, Bissig plated Rogers with the game-winning run, handing Siegrist his third loss of the season.

Game notes
Siegrist's 9 1-3 innings pitched are the 3rd highest total ever in Challengers history.
