Challengers get swept by Unicorns

After a close first contest in Sunday's doubleheader, the Hünenberg Unicorns and Challengers amassed 28 runs on 33 hits in Game 2.

After playing to a score of 13-10 after just three frames, the two teams were in for a long game.

Every Challenger except Carlos Nepomuceno reached base at least once in those opening innings.

Nick Lehmann led all players with three hits, including a grand salami off Hernandez in the third with two outs. It was his team-leading third homer of the year. He finished the day with four hits and a season-high seven RBI's.

But after this ferocious start, both teams settled down and exchanged zeros on the board for the next couple of innings.

The Challengers scored one more in the bottom of the sixth on Wascar Garcia's RBI-single, but the Unicrons came back for three more in the eighth to extend the lead to 16-11.

The Challengers found no recipe against former teammate Orlando Balbuena, getting only five hits off him in 6 1-3 innings.

On the Challengers' side, Garcia lasted only three innings, allowing 13 runs - only five of them earned - on 10 hits and one base-on-balls, while also striking out four.

Lehmann worked the final six innings, giving up four more runs on nine hits and five walks and two hit-by-pitches.

Game notes
Lehmann tied his career for homers in the NLB with three, and also his career-high for RBI's in a game with seven.
