Challengers blank Cards

The NLA-Team extended its winning streak to eight, as the Challengers cruised to a 10-0 shutout win against the Bern Cardinals on Sunday, August 10 in the 100th encounter between the two teams since 1994. Ryan Byrne gave the C's another quality start, allowing only two hits and one walk with 15 strikeouts in seven innings. Säntis Zeller opened the score in the third frame with a two-run single and the team from headcoach Chris Palatinus put things out of reach in the seventh, scoring six runs to make it 10-0.

Thomas Burger scored three times and Säntis Zeller and Robert Sedin drove in three runs apiece, while Lowuin Sacramento went 1-for-4 in his debut for the Challengers. The C's are now leading the alltime series 51-49 and also swept the season series against the reigning Swiss Champion.

Next up for the C's are the top ranked Zürich Barracudas on Wednesday, August 13 for a night game at the Heerenschürli ballpark.
