Challengers force Game 5

The Challengers evened their best-of-five Semifinal Series with the Therwil Flyers at 2, after winning Game 4 at the Heerenschürli ballpark on Saturday, September 27. Lowuin Sacramento tossed another masterpiece and Ryan Byrne drove in all three runs en route to a 3-0 shutout victory for the C’s.

The two teams exchanged zeros on the scoreboard through five frames, before the C’s put the first run on the board. Säntis Zeller doubled with one out in the sixth and was driven in two batters later by Ryan Byrne’s RBI-single. And Byrne added two insurance runs in the eight. After fouling off eight pitches he hit a line drive into right field enabling Harry Bregy and James Sanders to score with two outs. Lowuin Sacramento outdueled Flyers starter Gavin Guarrera, as he threw nine innings of two-hit ball while striking out 14, in what was the second best start in Challengers history with a game score of 95. He allowed only two earned runs in 35.1 innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 0.53.

The decisive Game 5 will take place at Therwil Känelmatt on Sunday, September 28 at 3 pm. The winner will face the Zürich Barracudas in the finals, that will begin at the Heerenschürli ballpark on Saturday, October 4.
