Challengers qualify themselves for Playoffs with 10-0 shutout of Rainbows

Finally, the Challengers managed to earn the final Playoff berth by beating the Embrach Rainbows 10-0 in convincing fashion.

Five Challenger pitchers combined on the four-hit shutout, with Tom Huston ending up as the winner, his first for the Challengers.

Carlos Peña hit his first homer in a Challengers uniform in a 2-for-3 performance, and Jesus Martinez added his team-leading fourth homer of the season in a 3-run third inning.

James Sanders also added three hits, pushing his team-leading batting average to .479.

The Challengers will finish fourth in the standings, returning to the Playoffs after a one-year hiatus. The final doubleheader against the Lausanne Indians will be played next Saturday, only having an impact for the Indians who could still finish in second place with two wins.
