NLB-Team battles, but goes down
The NLB-Team lost twice against the Bern Cardinals on Sunday. The Challengers gave everything to be a tough opponent for last year's NLB champions, but in the end the Cardinals walked away with two wins. Game 1 went into extra innings, as the Cards finished with a seven-run frame to put them up for good, as they posted a 12-5 victory.
The Challengers tried to bounce back, as they started off with a 4-2 lead after two innings in Game 2. But that was it for the C's, as the Cardinals scored 13 unanswered runs to eventually win 15-4. The C's dropped into fifth place with a 2-4 record.
NLB-Team cooled down by Flyers

Unlike most of the other Challengers teams the NLB-Team hasn't been stopped by the weather so far. But the C's were cooled off by the Therwil Flyers on Sunday, April 21, as the Flyers improved to a 5-1 record with two wins. After the Challengers lost Game 1 with a score of 1-5, the Flyers added a 12-6 victory in Game 2.
The Challengers are now in third place with a 2-2 record. The C's will take on the second placed Bern Cardinals on Sunday, May 5 at the Heerenschürli ballpark.
NLB-Team takes off with sweep
The NLB-Team had a successful start into the 2013 season, as it swept the Hünenberg Unicorns on Opening Day. The Unicorns were ahead by one run after four frames, as the C's plated three runs in the fifth and sixth innings each and held on for a 7-3 victory in Game 1.
Both teams held the level high in Game 2. The lead changed three times and the C's added another win, as they edged the Unicorns 7-6. Thomas Burger tossed three strong innings of relief, while Oliver Bernet broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning.
With the sweep the Challengers are in first place after the first two weekends of play. The C's will face the Therwil Flyers on Sunday, April 21.
Sedin back in Zurich
Robert Sedin is back in Zurich again. Last year's Challengers MVP arrived in Zurich on Friday to play his second season with the C's. The no. 19 was leading the Challengers with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 36 runs scored, a .413 batting average and a .477 on-base percentage in 2012. He also finished the season with a 5-3 record and a 1.61 ERA on the mound working 67 innings with 92 strikeouts.
Sedin will again be a key factor in the C's bid to make the playoffs. The 25-year old San Jose native will also be the skipper of the Challengers NLB-Team in 2013. The Challengers will start their season on April 20 with a double header at Therwil against the Therwil Flyers.
