A sweep over the Sissach Frogs on Sunday, May 18 put the Challengers at .500 (5-5) for the first time since opening day. Chris Palatinus had four hits and Jesus Martinez belted a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 6-3, while Thomas Burger (2-3) allowed four runs – three earned – and five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings, as the C’s posted a 10-4 victory in Game 1. Säntis Zeller and Patrick Zöllig had three hits apiece and Martinez hit a drive over the center-field fence for his fourth homer of the season, while Andy Fleischacker (1-1) tossed five solid innings for the win, as the C’s cruised to a 9-1 victory in Game 2.

Challengers vs. Frogs
The NLA-Team (3-5) will face the Sissach Frogs (1-3) on Sunday, May 18 in what will be the last league game for the Challengers at the Old Heerenschürli. The games start at 11am and 2pm.
The 1.Liga-Team (2-2) travels to Embrach on Sunday, May 18 where they will face the Jona Bandits and the Embrach Rainbows. The games start at 10am and 12.30pm at Klinik Hard.
The U15 Cadets head to Rapperswil-Jona on Saturday, May 17 where they will play against the Vikings/Devils (2pm) and the Lions/Rainbows/Bandits in a rematch of last year’s playoff final series (4pm). The Zurich Pilots will play their third game of the season on Sunday at Wil. The U12-team with players from the Embrach Rainbows, the Zurich Lions and the Challengers will face the Sissach Frogs at noon.
National Team played friendly game
The Swiss National Team played a double-header against the Neuenburg Atomics from the 1. German Bundesliga on Whit Monday. After Chris Beyeler, Beni Montag and Thomas Burger combined for a shutout, as the team of head coach Chris Palatinus won 2-0 in Game 1, the Swiss lost Game 2.

The Challengers ended their four game losing streak with two wins against the Wil Devils on Saturday, May 3 at the Heerenschürli. Jesus Martinez homered twice and Säntis Zeller had a homer and two doubles, while Thomas Burger allowed two runs – none earned – in seven dominant innings, as the C’s posted a 10-8 victory in Game 1. Zeller doubled three times in Game 2, while Thomas Landis allowed four runs – three earned – and five hits in six effective innings for his 98th career win, as the C’s swept the Devils with an 11-4 victory.

The Challengers NLA-Team (1-5) look to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat when they continue their homestand on Saturday, May 3 playing a double-header with the Wil Devils (1-3). The games start at 11am and 2pm at the Heerenschürli.
The Softball-Team (4-0) will try to extend their perfect start into the 2008 campaign on Sunday, May 4 when they face the Hünenberg Unicors (0-4) at Hünenberg. The games start at 11am and 1.30pm.
The 1.Liga-Team is idle. The games originally scheduled for Sunday, May 4 were postponed to Saturday, June 28.
Junioren Nationalmannschaften in Therwil
Die Schweizer U18 und U15 Nationalteams nehmen am 3. und 4. Mai am Internationalen Junioren Turnier in Therwil teil. Die Schweizer treffen dabei auf den deutschen U15 Meister Erbach Grasshoppers, die Borgerhout Squirrels aus Belgien, die Therwil Flyers und ein U15 All-Star Team. Von den Challengers sind Ryan Engesser, Samuel Hauser, Simon Saxer und Gabe Staub mit dabei.

After starting the season with two wins against the defending champion Therwil Flyers, the Softball-Team stays unbeaten, as the C’s won twice on Saturday, April 26 against the Geneva Dragons at the Klopstockwiese. Leandra Simitovic pitched four 1/3 strong innings and the Challengers beat the Geneva Dragons 14-7 in Game 1. Simitovic allowed one run and four hits, walked only one and struck out two for her third win of the season, while Karin Mittelstädt, Ziegylou Wehrli, Isabella Yaheya and Simitovic had two hits apiece and Simone Zurschmitten drove in three runs. Alexia Zingg and Leandra Simitovic had three hits each, while Zingg and Simona Cellar scored three runs apiece and the two teams combined for 18 errors, as the Challengers posted a wild 14-11 victory in Game 2. The C’s remain in first place with a 4-0 record. They will travel to Hünenberg on Sunday, May 4 to face the Unicorns. more

After losing twice to the Lausanne Indians last Saturday the NLA-Team (1-3) will face the reigning champion Bern Cardinals (2-0) on Saturday, April 26 at the Heerenschürli in what will be the rematch of last year’s playoff and Swiss Cup finals. The games start at 11am and 2pm.
After starting the season with two wins against the defending champion Therwil Flyers, the Softball-Team (2-0) will look to keep rolling on Saturday, April 26 when they play a double-header with the Geneva Dragons (0-2) at the Klopstockwiese. The games start at 11am and 1.30pm.
The 1.Liga-Team travels to Lausanne on Sunday, April 27 to play its first round game of this year’s Swiss Cup against the Geneva Dragons. The game starts at 2pm at the Terrain de Chavannes.
1.Liga-Team defeated twice
The 1.Liga-Team wasn’t able to confirm the good performances it showed one week ago, as the season started with two wins on opening day. The C’s lost twice on Sunday, April 20 at Romanshorn against the Romanshorn Submarines and the Wil Devils. The Challengers have now a 2-2 record.
